BEAUTY: Staycation or Vacation, we’ve got you covered

HAWAII FINE OH!

In 2016, after selling Bubble Shack Hawaii, a bath, body and candle company she launched a decade earlier, entrepreneur-surfer Holly Harding started dreaming about what she wanted her second beauty startup to be. The answer: indulgent, uncompromising skin-care products packed with high-performance plant-based superfood ingredients. The just-launched result: O’o Hawaii, a luxury line named for the extinct ōo‘oʻōsongbird with elements sourced in Hawaii (Harding lives on the North Shore of Oahu) and produced in Santa Ana. With no artificial colorants, or synthetics of any kind, the green-hued Antioxidant Cleansing Balm ($65), the lavender Brilliant Feather Beauty Balm ($98), and the rose Birdseed Detoxifying Face Scrub ($78) all get their plumage from Mother Nature. :: oohawaii.com

COME FOR THE MASSAGE, STAY FOR THE POOL

When you enter Drift Spa at the Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, you’re invited to choose a shell from among the dozens nestled in a basket and then asked to set an intention. Ours had something to do with self-acceptance, but if you had posed that question when we exited some two hours later after our sublime Himalayan Salt Stone Massage ($235) and a circuit of sauna, eucalyptus steam room and hot tubs, our intention would have been to return often and soon. Since you can spend an entire day indulging in luxury when you book a spa treatment, our next outing here will include lounging at the new adults-only pool (opening May 24) and a stop at the just-opened Henry’s Restaurant for a glass of sauvignon blanc and a plate of their burrata and asparagus. :: waterfrontresort.com

TRESS CARE ON THE GO

We love trying out hotel bath gels and soap when we travel. Not so much those little bottles of shampoo and conditioner since we can never be sure they’re safe for color-treated hair. That’s why it’s such welcome news that Philip B is now offering our favorite products in TSA-friendly sizes. We’ve already tossed his Four Step Treatment Kit into our carry-on. The paraben- and phthalate-free products include Peppermint Avocado Shampoo; Lightweight Deep Conditioner; Detangling Toning Mist and Rejuvenating Oil; $62. :: philipb.com
